Care, pars and repair
What products can I use to maintain my Lâg guitar?

Fingerboard/bridge

For all our models you can maintain the fingerboard by applying lemon oil or linseed oil.

Body

The satin finish has a very thin layer of varnish, for this type of guitar, we recommend that you avoid an abrasive polish, certain products are specifically made for these finishes, otherwise you can make do with a light cleaning product.

For a guitar with a glossy varnish, you can maintain the body of your guitar with a classic polish/cleaner, such as Dunlop 65, there are many equivalent products made by GHS, Music Nomad, Armonics...

Whatever the finish, be sure to use a clean micro fiber cloth to avoid scratching your instrument.

How do I get my LÂG guitar repaired?

If your guitar is still under warranty (warranty time depends on your country), you must go back to your dealer to have your guitar taken care of.
In case the warranty has expired or does not cover repairs, you can inquire with professional luthiers or the luthier services at a store near you.

Manufacturing
Where and when my guitar was made?

For recent models, you can refer to the serial number to easily date your guitar. The first two numbers give the year of manufacture, the next two the month and the next two letters the place of manufacture (eg: 2105LT00657 describes a guitar manufactured in May 2021 at the Lâg factory in Tianjin).

For older models, it is very difficult to get as much information from the serial number. You can always do some research and refer to the old catalogs on our site.

Does my guitar contribute to deforestation and the depletion of precious woods?

Sensitive to this environmental concern, Lâg has ceased using rare and precious woods like ebony on the fingerboard, headstock, and bridge of its guitars since 2015. This wood has been replaced by Brankowood, a wood derived from a technological and ecological process that does not endanger the environment. This wood is now also used to build the solid top of our new Sauvage series, aiming to offer an eco-designed guitar.

Warranty
How can I register my guitar for warranty?

It is no longer necessary to register your guitar to activate the warranty. You just need to keep a proof of purchase, which will serve as a warranty when returning the guitar to your dealer.

How does the warranty work?

The Lâg Guitars warranty covers any manufacturing defects of the instrument, whether immediate or occurring later. However, it must be a genuine defect due to manufacturing. The duration of this warranty time may depend on your location : 2 years in EU, 1 year in Japan, UK...

Choosing your Lâg Guitar
Which guitar models do you recommend for children?

The choice of the guitar will depend on the height of the child. We recommend choosing a 3/4 size guitar or a Travel guitar. These two formats are specially designed to be more compact and will be easier to handle for young aspiring guitarists. For the younger, shorter, kids, you may choose between our two 6 strings ukuleles which are even smaller than these guitars. You can find all these Lâg models here: https://www.lagguitars.com/en/414-lag?q=Format-3%5C/4-Baby+Guitar-Travel

What's the difference between the BlueWave 1 and 2

Our new Smart Guitar series BlueWave 1 and BlueWave 2 share the same technological preamp that features delay and reverb effects and a Bluetooth player, like they share the same top wood, solid Red Cedar. But they show differences on:

-          The woods chosen for the back and sides (BlueWave 1 models have a Khaya body while BlueWave 2 bodies are made of Santos Rosewood)

-          Type of finish (BlueWave 1 have open pore satin finish while BlueWave 2 show a gloss finish)

-          Available shapes: BlueWave 1 only gathers Travel shapes though BlueWave 2 comes in various shapes, such as Dreadnought, Auditorium (and its lefty version), Travel and Classical.

Other questions
Will you be making electric guitars again?

Since 2003, we have focused on crafting quality and affordable acoustic guitars for all, but we are well aware that many musicians worldwide would like to see the return of our legendary electric guitars, this is why we have been working on bringing you new Lâg electric models very soon.

Why aren't there any prices on the website?

Our mission is to create affordable guitars, however, the prices of our guitars may vary depending on the purchasing country due to factors such as taxes and import duties. For more accurate price information, we recommend contacting a dealer near you using our world map in our menu.

Where can I find the user guide for my guitar?

Visit our directory of electronics user guides. Remember that Algam SAS. warrants, to the original owner only, factory-installed electronic devices for a period of one year from the date of purchase.

Left-handed
Can I convert a right-handed guitar to left-handed?

While it's possible to change the nut for a left-handed setup, we don't recommend it. This is because the bridge saddle is angled to compensate for the string diameter. So, if you switch to left-handed strings, the guitar will sound fine on open strings but may be slightly out of tune when playing chords, especially as you move higher up the fretboard. Additionally, since the bracing is not symmetrical, the guitar may not sound as good as it should.

What are your left-handed guitar models?

All our left-handed guitar models are referenced in each series with the letter L. For example, in the Escapade series, you will find the ESCAPADE-L-KAE and in the Sauvage series, the SAUVAGE-L-ACE. You will find all our left handed Lâg guitars here: https://www.lagguitars.com/en/414-lag?q=Left+handed-Yes
